Steven M Aubry, DVM

A 1978 graduate of Michigan State University, Dr Aubry joined Brighton Animal Hospital in 1981 and is also a co-owner.  His expertise helps fulfill each pet's unique dentistry needs.  In his spare time, he enjoys fishing and is an avid fan of MSU Spartan football and basketball.
 


Katherine M Lawrence, DVM

Practicing at Brighton Animal Hospital since 1974, Dr. Lawrence is a co-owner.  Since earning her degree from Michigan State University, surgery and diagnostic medicine have become her forte.  She is active in the community and is a member of the Brighton Chamber and the Brighton Rotary Club. Her personal interests include dance, music, travel and time with her husband, Ed, and family.  She has 1 dog, a golden retriever named Molly.


Christine Lee, DVM

Dr. Lee is a graduate of Michigan State University and has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 1986.  She served the Livingston County Veterinary Medical Association for 15 years in a variety of capacities.  On the job, Dr. Lee has an interest in internal medicine.  Her outside interests include opera and Tiger baseball. She has 1 cat named Meijer who was found as a stray kitten in the Meijer parking lot.
 


Rebecca Balavitch, DVM

Dr. Balavitch graduated in 1993 from Michigan State University. She first joined our staff for occasional relief assignments in  2004, then decided to "make it official" in April 2007. She has an interest in behavior medicine and dental health and especially enjoys caring for pets who are considered family members . Dr. Balavitch has a daughter, Elena, and 2 cats, Gemini and Atticus. The four of them share their home with her rock-star husband, Mike. In their former life, the Balavitches enjoyed rustic camping and birding, but with a baby around they stick to stroller walks, art fairs and sneak away for the occasional concert. Dr. B and Elena are graced with frequent at-home performances by "Daddy's band" when they come over to practice!


 Andrea Lautenschlager, DVM
 

Dr. Lautenschlager graduated from Ludwig-Maximillian University (Munich, Germany) in 1999 and started as a food animal doctor in Bavaria. Her husband was transferred to Michigan in 2000 and she accompanied him to a new life in the United States. In 2001 she finished her doctoral degree in Munich and continued with relief work in Germany. She became licensed as a DVM through the ECFVG program. Currently she works part-time for Brighton Animal Hospital (mostly surgery). Dr. Lautenschlager lives with her husband and 3 teenage boys on a small farm with 2 horses, a pony, 3 goats, chickens, and more. She is very involved with search and rescue dogs and serves as a K9 handler with her disaster dog Senta for MI-TF and K9ONE.


Jan Aubry, Office Manager

Jan joined Brighton Animal Hospital in 1993 after her youngest child started school.  She has a B.S., MA in education from MSU.  Jan previously had been a teacher.  Gradually she has accepted more responsibility at the hospital and is now working full time.  Teaching is still a big part of the job with hiring and training as well as client education.  The 3 Aubry children have all worked at the animal hospital while in high school and are now pursuing personal goals.  


Beth, LVT

Beth graduated from the A.A.S. Veterinary Technology from Baker College in Flint.  Her favorite part of her job is client interaction, lab duties and animal nursing care.  She has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 1997. Her outside interests include reading, organizing, outdoor activities and spending time with her friends and family.  


Becky, Technician/Assistant

Becky has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 1998.  She enjoys working in surgery as well as client education.  Her outside interests include spending time with her family, traveling and enjoying the outdoors.  Becky and her husband have 2 children. She also has 2 dogs, Jasmine and Timber, and 1 cat named Luigi.


Louise, Assistant

Louise's favorite aspects of being in veterinary medicine are helping the doctors treat animals and being an expert handler to help keep animals calm when receiving treatments.  Louise has 2 dogs named Gracie and Lacey.  Louise says, "she has worked at Brighton Animal Hospital so long, she can't imagine working anywhere else!"


 


Joanie, Reception

Joanie has worked in veterinary medicine since 1992 and has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 1999.  Joanie's favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is working in surgery, however, anytime she is able to help an animal she finds it enjoyable and rewarding.  Joanie has been married since 1991 and has 2 children, a dog and 2 cats.

 


Kathleen, Reception/Assistant

Kathleen has worked at Brighton Animal Hospital since 2009.  She has 2 dogs that she rescued, Samson and Delilah, and a cat name Puddin.  She enjoys being with friends, listening and playing music as well as exploring new places. She volunteers at a rescue horse barn throughout the week.




 


Lauren, LVT

Lauren graduated from Michigan State University in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in dietetics.  She then went back to school in 2011 to obtain her veterinary technician degree from Macomb Community College.  She has been with Brighton Animal Hospital since 2013.  She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and playing card games.  She lives with her husband and daughter as well as one very spoiled cat named Leela and a dog named Tiberius.  Lauren's favorite part of her job is educating clients and animal nutrition.


  Courtney, Reception

After being a client for many years, Courtney joined our team in October of 2013.  She loves working at the front desk as it allows her to play with all the dogs and cats that come in.  After having dogs her whole life, she now has 2 kittens named BMO and Bella. 


 


 Kat, LVT

Kat graduated from Michigan State University in 2013.  She enjoys working in surgery, lab duties and getting to know the clients.  Outside of work her favorite thing to do is drive back to her hometown of Westland to visit with family.  Kat has 1 dog, Drogo, and three cats, Elliot, Rambo and Trouble.

 


 Christine, Reception/Assitant

Christine joined our team in 2011.  She enjoys seeing all the different animals that come in as well as helping clients.  She has a tiger kitty named T.J.  Outside of work, she enjoys writing music, playing the piano and traveling.


 


 Lyndsae, Reception

 Lyndsae is originally from the upper peninsula.  She moved to Brighton with her husband and 4 dogs; Duke, Omar, Gemma and Remington.  She is hoping to go to school to become a veterinary technician.  Her favorite part about working at Brighton Animal Hospital is that she is constantly learning new things.

Courtney is currently attending Michigan State University in their veterinary technician program and working at Brighton Animal Hospital during the summers.  She has a bearded collie named Bellatrix.  She enjoys playing soccer and snowboarding.


 


Olivia, Assitant

Olivia started working for Brighton Animal Hospital in 2017. She is currently attending school to become a licensed veterinary technician. In her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family and boyfriend. She has one horse named Leo.


Mama Kitty, Front Desk Supervisor

Mama Kitty came to Brighton Animal Hospital in 2004 and came with 3 kittens.  Brighton Animal Hospital decided they loved her, so they were going to spay her and keep her, but they discovered that she was already pregnant.  A few weeks later Mama had 8 kittens that were born on Friday the 13th (8/13/04).  They all went to great homes of staff members and clients.  She has many "work" hours of training in front desk responsibilities.  Her areas of expertise are harassing the dogs and climbing into people's purses.  Her hobbies are drinking out of the faucet.  She has 11 (known) children.


Jackson, Assistant Front Desk Supervisor

Jackson was a stray cat in Jackson, NC rummaging for food in dumpsters. His hobbies include greeting dogs and cats in the treatment room and begging for food 24/7.
